Hiruzen Sarutobi, also known as the Third Hokage, was a prominent figure in the Naruto universe. He served as the leader of Konohagakure (the Hidden Leaf Village) for a significant portion of its history, succeeding Tobirama Senju, the Second Hokage.

Renowned for his mastery of all five basic nature transformations and a vast repertoire of jutsu, Hiruzen was often hailed as "The Professor" due to his exceptional knowledge. He was trained by both Hashirama Senju, the First Hokage, and his brother, Tobirama.

Hiruzen mentored the Legendary Sannin: Jiraiya, Tsunade, and Orochimaru. He ultimately sacrificed his life during the Konoha Crush, a joint attack by Orochimaru and Sunagakure, utilizing the Reaper Death Seal to attempt to seal away Orochimaru's arms and prevent further destruction to the village.

Despite his death, Hiruzen's influence continued to shape Konoha. He embodied the "Will of Fire," a philosophy emphasizing love, protection, and dedication to the village and its people.
